The Process
The following is intended to serve as an overview of my working process so you will better know what to expect should you choose for me to produce a website for you.
- First, we'll start by discussing a few things, such as:
- The purpose of your website.
- Who your audience will be.
- The types of information you want to include on your website.
- The desired look of your website.
- Also in this very early stage I will need for you to send me your content (including any images you would like for me to incorporate) so I can provide you with a general price quote. Having the content up front allows me to organize the information for your website and to gain a more accurate idea of how complex the website will be and how long it will take me to produce it.
Once I have a good idea of what you're looking for in a website and have received your content, I will begin working on a design and formal organization. Once I have completed this, I will send you images of several sample pages, as well as a site organization chart, for your review. It is also at this point I will be able to provide you with a final price for your website.
After you have reviewed the proofs and organization chart I send you, I will adjust the design and/or organization based on your input.
When I have final sign-off from you on the design and organization for your website, I will begin coding it. I will keep you updated along the way on my progress.
When I have finished coding your website, I will send you a few samples of what your website will look like in a browser window and after you've reviewed them, I will upload your website.
Once the site has been uploaded, I do a few of things:
- Submit your website to the most commonly used search engines.
- If you have chosen for me to set up the content management system for your website, I will do this at this point.
- Upon completing setup of the content management system, I will provide you with a detailed user's guide on how to use it.
That's it—we're done! However, I will always remain available to answer any questions you may have as you familiarize yourself with managing the content on your website.
